I still do but they’re kryptonite for a diabetic.
Writing this morning, I was reminded of something my father used to say when he gave me some and I duly and faithfully repeated.
“One at a time”.
Lest I choke.
It’s the same for your business (and your life, come to think of it).
The struggle is, of course, juggling to get everything done.
But then I’m such a control freak, I have to do everything. But that’s fine because I find I can multitask really well.
I’ve just read Dan Kennedy’s book on time management. If you don’t know him, he’s a rather successful marketer (somewhat).
He’s been running businesses for forty years and has probably earned the right to do things his way.
He has no mobile phone.
He has no personal email address.
He has a landline but you could probably count the number of people that know the number on the fingers of two hands.
You can only communicate with him by fax. But don’t expect a quick response.
He lives in Cleveland, Ohio – not exactly an entertainment hub.
He has an assistant on the other side of the country. Given that the country is, in fact, a continent, that’s a long way out of the way.
But he gets rid of all distractions – both electronic and personal – and gets through a prodigious amount of work. Even though he has no material need to do so.
Ole Dan has understood one thing. You can only do one thing at a time. No time monster’s gonna get him.
The human brain cannot process more than one thing.
Just try to write that landing page whilst keeping an eye on Facebook.
Try cooking that risotto whilst watching TV and helping your teenager with homework.
Can’t be done.
So don’t sweat over it.
Ask for help.
Now, I could do your risotto but not your teenager’s homework.
However, I’m better at ideas.
I’ve been a translator for years so I know a thing or to about moving ideas around.
I’ve got a degree in and a passion for History so I know a bit about interpreting facts.
There aren’t many things you can guarantee in my business – certainly not more sales – but spend 30 minutes with me and paying I’ll guarantee you’ll think about your business in a different way.
Or your money back.
